Pat Wu Physio

Services

Our treatment plans start by connecting the clinical assessment to the specific demands of your sport, work, or activity. Exercises, activity modifications, and lifestyle components are modified collaboratively around your schedule and resources.

Return to Function / Return to Sport

Rehabilitation of injuries, acute or chronic. An assessment starting with an interview to find the diagnosis. What happened, when it happened, risk factors leading up. Targeted tests to identify what needs more load, and what needs a break.

A treatment plan is given specific to you. Exercises to strengthen tissues that need resilience, bring bloodflow and healing to the right areas, or to increase a range of motion rate limiting performance. Education about what possibly went wrong leading up to the injuries, whether it be insufficient rest, poor technique etc.

Lastly, collaboration with your sport coach/employer to determine a good plan to stay in the sport during the rehab.

Pre-Surgical Rehab

There is a lot of uncertainty post traumatic injury. Often, the disability of the injury is enough to significantly impact their ability to go to work, as well as walking, doing stairs, and being physically active.

The first goal of physical therapy pre-surgery is to be a resource to help reduce some of that uncertainty. The second goal is to do everything possible to reduce injury related disability.

We learn how to reduce swelling, regain strength and range of motion, and re-gain a high quality of life before the procedure.

Post-surgical rehab

The surgery is only the first step. Post procedures (eg. ACLR) many patients feel worse acutely. Joints are swollen, pain is high, and mobilizing feels like movement through cement.

Early physical therapy helps reduce swelling and regain function as soon as possible. Continued physical therapy is mandatory for a return to sport.

Progression through regaining range, then strength, power, acceleration and deceleration is guided closely and safely by the physical therapist.
